June 3, 2017: Horse Day

End Date:June 3, 2017
Location:Anywhere!
Website:https://manitobahorsecouncil.ca/News-NewsAndNotices

Each year, the first Saturday of June is marked as Canada's National Horse Day. Together, Equestrian Canada and the provincial/territorial equestrian organizations invite all Canadians to take this unique opportunity to honour, discover, and explore the equestrian world. For many Canadians, Horse Day is the chance to get up close and personal with a horse for the first time. Horse Day is also the perfect opportunity to acknowledge both the important contributions made by horses in our nation's heritage, as well as the fact that people of all ages and experience levels can continue to enjoy horses in sport and leisure. For more information on Horse Day, visit www.equestrian.ca/events-results/horseday.

This year’s Horse Day will also be a special year for the celebration of the horse, as 2017 also marks Canada’s 150th anniversary, as well as the 250th anniversary of horse racing in Canada.

The most important thing to keep in mind when planning your Horse Day event is to create a fun, safe event to introduce newcomers to horses and the sport. The goal is to educate and, hopefully, inspire them to get involved with horses. That is the purpose of Horse Day and we ask that you strive to meet that objective when planning your event.

If you would like to plan an activity, such as a barn open house, horse show, fun day, demo or anything else on that date, please see our materials and more info available at /News-NewsAndNotices
