Eddo Hoekstra of Hoekstra Dressage is a wonderful and well-regarded clinician from Peterborough, Ontario.
Motivated by passion, Eddo began his equestrian career in his homeland, Holland and became a riding instructor for the Dutch Army in Germany. From there, Eddo continued his career internationally on the FEI dressage circuit training in Bermuda and with US Olympian Robert Dover. Eddo eventually came to Canada where he was able to open his own facility and train his own horse, Rasputin, to the grand-prix level. He trained with Canadian Olympic team coach Walter Zettl and Walter named Eddo as the person who would best carry on his legacy of horsemanship after his passing.
A major stroke changed Eddo's life by granting him an opportunity for grand-prix training to come full circle.
Eddo named his journey "Round Two" - a new chance to use his training in classical dressage to share what he learned from his mentors and experiences with others who share his passion! He is an advocate for the horses who gave him so much and looks to build the future for both horses and riders! He encourages and teaches riders from beginners to advanced, children to adults, no matter their horse, their abilities, their style (Western or English). He helps them become curious about the tools available to them and their horses and to find new beginnings in the partnership. Eddo finds true joy in meeting and getting to know the people that he is teaching.
