Job Title: Horse Grooms
Term: The position is a full time temporary position for the 2019 season starting from March 1, 2019 to approximately September 9, 2019.
Horse Grooms Job Duties:
-Provide daily care of horses racing at Assiniboia Downs at 3975 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3K 2E9;
-Assist horse trainer with thoroughbred horse training duties
-Cleaning stalls, tacking horses, horse grooming, applying medications and bandaging;
-Mixing and preparing feed, detecting disease or ailments and reporting to horse owners
Hours: 35 hours per week
Experience Required
-Must have on track race horse experience;
-Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Check;
Language of Work: English
Wage: $13.50 / hour

Job Title: Racehorse Exercise Riders
Term: The position is a full time temporary position for the 2019 season
starting from March 1, 2019 to September 10, 2019.
Racehorse Exercise Rider Job Duties
-Train horses by riding racehorses daily to condition them at Assiniboia Downs Racetrack, 3975 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3K 2E9;
-adjust and apply specialized racing equipment, adhere to various start and stop points using exceptional riding skills required to control 1100 lb. equine athletes on a race track experiencing large volume traffic; and
-ride into and break horse out of metal starting gate for morning workouts, attaining instant high speed in a short distance.
Experience Required:
-Must have been licensed as an Exercise Rider on a recognized track for 3 years;
-Must be able to perform duties in stressful racetrack environment;
-Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Check; and
-Must weigh less than 160 lbs for safety, humane treatment of horse and ethics of industry
Hours: 30 hours per week
Language of Work: English
Wage: $23.08 / hour
