Safe Sport is an environment where individuals can have a healthy, supportive, and respectful sport experience, free from all forms of harassment and abuse. The Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport calls for all sporting environments to be free from physical, sexual and psychological abuse.
Manitoba Horse Council believes in being proactive to ensure horse riding and equestrian sport is safe and enjoyable for all participants. The first step toward creating a safer sport environment is equipping our communities with the knowledge of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in sport. When we can recognize, we can react.
Sport organizations have a responsibility and obligation to protect the safety and physical and mental well-being of every individual involved in its community. Sport organizations need to take any situation involving misconduct or maltreatment very seriously.
Safe Sport is a free eLearning module designed to give coaches, officials, parents and organizers the knowledge and skills to create safe and inclusive sport environments by recognizing, addressing, and preventing maltreatment in sport. The training can be accessed by creating a free account at The Locker
