The Manitoba Horse Council (MHC) is seeking motivated individuals to join our Equestrian Grounds & Maintenance Team for the 2026 season. We’re a 40-acre outdoor horse show venue located in Birds Hill Provincial Park, hosting competitions May–October. We’re hiring for four positions:

  • 1 Full-Time, 40 hours/week
  • 3 Casual, ~20 hours/week (primarily following horse shows)

Roles begin in early May with season-long work through October. We’re looking for reliable, team-oriented people who enjoy the outdoors and take pride in high-quality grounds and facility care.

About the role

  • Responsible for routine show ring and grounds maintenance (sand and grass rings, barns, stalls, and surrounding areas)
  • Operate light to heavy equipment (tractors, mowers, sand groomers, water cannons, sprinklers, trimmers, etc.)
  • Support stall/barn cleaning and related duties
  • Shift patterns: Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM with rotational weekend work; some evenings after shows (roughly 5:00–9:00 PM)
  • Full-time staff typically work an 8-hour day; weekends required on a rotation basis

What we’re looking for

  • Self-motivated, reliable, organized with a positive can-do attitude
  • Experience in horses, farm work, grounds maintenance, or related fields is an asset
  • Comfort with equestrian environments and understanding of horse shows is helpful
  • Experience handling machinery is a plus
  • Able to work well in a team and independently
  • At least 16 years old and hold a valid Manitoba driver’s license
  • Available to work some weekends and evenings on a rotation; punctuality is essential
  • Physically capable of outdoor, physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling heavy loads)

Compensation

  • Starting wage: $20/hour, with increases based on performance
