We want to encourage you to use our new "Submit Your Event" form so that YOU can add your club and local events to the MHC Events Calendar . Anyone can submit info on local competitions, fairs, trail rides, activities, fun days, educational events - from minis to heavy horses - and more! Just fill the information about your event into the form and we'll get it added in to the MHC Events Calendar! Let's try to get the calendar reflecting a complete picture of how many equine related activities actually happen across Manitoba each year!

We also want as much input from your club and region across Manitoba as possible so please send news releases, award winners, show results etc to [email protected] as we will also be using this type of info as part of our local news pages in The Canadian Horse Journal and on our Facebook page and website. When competitions are once again permitted in the province, the 'Return to Competition' Protocols produced by Manitoba Horse Council are the guiding document accepted by the Province.

The Return to Competition protocols will apply whether an event is: formally sanctioned (such as EC Bronze, Silver, Gold competitions, etc.) or nominally sanctioned by MHC because it is held by an MHC member club,

Various other groups unaffiliated with MHC may find the Return to Competition protocols and documents useful. It is the document approved by the province for any equestrian/riding activity, not solely Manitoba Horse Council member events,

Recreation Memberships

The Manitoba Horse Council (MHC) offers a special membership category for Recreational Riders!

This membership was created because we sincerely believe that the future of MHC lies in acquiring a strong recreational membership base. Equestrian competition will always be an important aspect of the work of the Manitoba Horse Council, but the reality is that most of the equestrian enthusiasts in Manitoba, and across the country, are not competitive. They are involved with horses and ponies of all types and breeds for the sheer love of the animal and the love of the outdoors. And theirs is a voice that has not been represented adequately through the provincial body for equestrians in this province.

This partnership enables the MHC to offer continuing education and certification opportunities for our members – athletes, coaches, officials, recreational riders/drivers, facility owners and professional equine care-givers. MHC members receive a 15% discount on short courses offered on The Horse Portal.

Members will earn continuing education credits and certificates of completion from Equine Guelph – the horse owner’s centre at the University of Guelph.

If planning to attend a clinic and coming from outside Manitoba, please note that travel restrictions may apply. Please check for updated information: "Travel information relating to Covid restrictions"

Any events will be fully Covid-compliant. Those clinics held at Sport Manitoba will require masking at all times indoors, except when eating/drinking. October 23, 2021

Provincial Stewards Clinic

with Susan Adey, EC Senior National Steward, EC Senior Dressage Steward and FEI Level III Jumping Steward To be held at Sport Manitoba, cost is $125 + GST. Becoming a Coach

How to become an NCCP Certified Equestrian Coach or Instructor STEP 1 - Identify the certification you are best suited for

Instructor : Specializes in introducing beginners to non-competitive or recreational riding and/or driving.

Available certificates: Instructor English Western Driving Saddle Seat

Please note : NCCP Certified Instructors may maintain amateur competitive status while receiving remuneration for instructing.

Coach : Specializes in working with athletes actively competing in equestrian sport. This stream allows a coach to progress through competitive levels and specialize in a discipline.

INTRODUCTION

The ninth annual Horse Day is taking place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 and we couldn’t be happier that you will be hosting a Horse Day event! Provided in this document are ways to help you maximize attendance at your event and gain interest from local media to share our love of horses with as many people in your community as possible.

This year’s Horse Day will also be a special year for the celebration of the horse, as 2017 also marks Canada’s 150th anniversary, as well as the 250th anniversary of horse racing in Canada. WHAT IS HORSE DAY?
